Discover ExcelWorks - New plugin to bring live Excel tables into Rhino 8
A direct, updatable connection between Microsoft Excel and native Rhino geometry.
For many Rhino users, getting a well-formatted Excel table onto a drawing has meant relying on screenshots, PDF conversions, CSV imports, or custom Grasshopper definitions. These workarounds can be slow, difficult to update, and often lose the formatting that made the spreadsheet useful in the first place.
After repeatedly running into the same problem in our own drafting workflow, CAD Projects Australia developed ExcelWorks for Rhino, a new Rhino 8 plugin designed to create a direct and practical connection between Microsoft Excel and Rhino.
With ExcelWorks, you select a range in an open Excel workbook and place it into Rhino. The plugin recreates the table as native Rhino geometry inside a block, retaining displayed cell values, fills, borders, merged cells, text alignment, font sizing, and row and column proportions. The result remains clean, scalable and suitable for layouts, technical drawings and documentation.
The real advantage comes when spreadsheet data changes. Rather than deleting the old table and starting again, ExcelWorks can update the existing linked block while keeping its location and scale in the Rhino document. Links can also be redefined, managed or removed through the ExcelWorks panel.
ExcelWorks is intended for designers, naval architects, engineers, fabricators and anyone who regularly transfers schedules, specifications, parts lists, calculations or other tabular information into Rhino.
